AS NEED FOR INNOVATION IN AGRICULTURE AND FOOD PRODUCTION INTENSIFIES, FULCRUM GLOBAL CAPITAL ADDS THREE ASSOCIATES

by Animal Health2 | Nov 09, 2022

Fulcrum Global Capital is pleased to welcome three new associates to our talented team of investment professionals. The new team members – Bonnie Brayton, Amber Oerly and Bijoy Shah – add diverse insights to our growing firm as we find and foster young companies that are disrupting the ag and food industry with innovations that will improve productivity, reduce food waste and improve safety of our food system.

The global food and ag sectors today are challenged with explosive population growth, evolving demographics and geopolitical uncertainties, which means we need more innovation faster than ever before. Bonnie, Amber and Bijoy will help us identify those companies that can bring forward meaningful solutions to those challenges.

These new team members come from various backgrounds and experience levels within the agriculture and investment communities, providing a more expansive and unique view to help guide our investment portfolio.

Bonnie Brayton
Bonnie Brayton – Venture Associate
Bonnie Brayton joins Fulcrum Global Capital as a Venture Associate with nearly 15 years of plant biology and genetics research experience and two master’s degrees from prestigious schools – University of California - Berkeley (Plant Biology) and Brown University (Technology Leadership). Bonnie knows the ins and outs of plants and plant development. For the past 10 years especially, she’s focused on research and development in a number of roles for Corteva Agriscience (and its predecessor Dupont Pioneer). There she led the double haploid discovery technology team, was an R&D operations leader, and managed R&D technology acquisitions and partnerships focused on biologicals and crop protection regulations.

Amber Oerly
Amber Oerly - Senior Analyst
Amber will be joining Fulcrum in January 2023 upon obtaining her master’s degree in agricultural economics from Kansas State University. She brings a breadth of agriculture knowledge to her new role ranging from cattle to pecans and ag economics to government policy. While in school, she served in research and internship roles at the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, National Grazing Lands Coalition, and Noble Research Institute (Lloyd Noble Scholar in Agriculture). Additionally, she served as an intern with the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry and as graduate research assistant for the KSU Department of Agricultural Economics.

Bijoy Shah
Bijoy Shah – Analyst
As a recent graduate of the Boston College Carroll School of Management, Bijoy’s passion and focus has been investing in, and providing financial guidance to, entrepreneurial ventures. During his studies, he served as the Ignite Venture Capital Fellow for Glasswing Ventures, summer analyst at Goldman Sachs, and summer analyst at Amity Ventures. In those roles, he sourced and analyzed early-stage A1 and frontier technology startups and identified controls to mitigate risks. While on campus, Bijoy also co-founded the first-ever student led venture capital firm at Boston College.
