Emily 40 under 40 photoHere at the Animal Health Corridor, we are proud to announce that our very own Emily McVey has won the 2023 Economic Development 40 Under 40 Award. This biennial award recognizes the rising stars in the economic development industry who are under 40 years of age.

The award is hosted by Development Counsellors International (DCI) and evaluates nominations based on their demonstration of strong leadership, commitment and innovation in the workplace. With this criterion, it’s no surprise Emily made the cut.

As the vice president here at The Corridor, Emily is directly responsible for bringing economic gains to our industry and area. For example, working as the direct lead on several projects for Simmons Pet Food, Emily helped this leading private label and pet food manufacturer invest $115 million and 177 jobs in the Kansas City region this past year. But this is only one instance of Emily growing the area.

Emily brings prosperity to our region every year through much of her work, including helping organize and implement The Corridor’s annual Animal Health Summit which invites attendees and attention from around the world to Kansas City. The conference has acted as a feeder pipeline for economic development by bringing these companies to Kansas City.

Knowing Emily and her aspirations, this impressive acknowledgement will be just one of many in her career. And we are delighted to celebrate with her in her successes every step of the way.
