US swine nutrition firm Tonisity has appointed a new general manager and chief operations officer.

Daniel Faidley has taken the role of general manager, while Michael Amos has become chief operations officer of the company's US business.

Mr Faidley has over 20 years of experience "building sales teams and developing and implementing results-driven business models". In his new role, he will help Tonisity bolster product adoption of Tonisity Px – the first 'isotonic protein drink for pigs', which is specifically designed to help support intestinal function during times of stress.

Most recently, Mr Faidley was regional sales director for the crop protection business at WinField United. Prior to this, he worked at Elanco for 15 years. At Elanco, he developed from sales representative to senior director of global marketing as he led the firm's US swine business.

Mr Faidley has also served on the food security policy committee and in the antibiotics working group for the National Pork Producers Council. Additionally, he was on the Elanco hunger advisory board.

Mr Amos brings nearly four decades of experience in the animal health sector to Tonisity. His career has seen him work for Pfizer Animal Health (and latterly Zoetis) in senior sales and marketing roles.

Tonisity added: "In addition to his leadership skills, he has a vast understanding of animal therapeutic treatments and preventatives and has worked on a multitude of projects aimed at improving producer profitability."

The St Joseph, Missouri-based company appointed Mark Eisenhart to the role of technical services veterinarian last month.
