Merck Animal Health has expanded its cattle implant line with the addition of Revalor-XH in the US.

Revalor-XH is indicated for increased rate of weight gain and improved feed efficiency for up to 200 days after implantation in beef heifers fed in confinement for slaughter. The extended release implant's active ingredients are trenbolone acetate and estradiol.

Revalor-XH has the same active ingredients as Merck's Revalor-XS implant for steers but is formulated specifically for feedyard heifers.

Marshall Streeter, technical services specialist at Merck, said: "Revalor-XH begins to work immediately and provides the same strong finish that customers have come to expect from Revalor-XS. It also provides the same level of convenience with the second dose going to work 70-80 days later, eliminating the need to re-process the cattle."

Merck – known as MSD Animal Health outside North America – initially gained a supplementary approval from the US FDA for Revalor-XH for increased rate of weight gain and improved feed efficiency in 2017.
