Steve Schram has joined Norbrook laboratories after spending 21 years as the chairman, president and chief executive of AgriLabs.

Mr Schram is now vice president of sales and marketing for the Americas at Northern Ireland-based Norbrook. In this role he will lead Norbrook sales and marketing activities across the US, Canada Latin America. He will be based at Norbrook's US headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas.

He will focus primarily on leading the firm's US business "where Norbrook is planning significant growth, not only of its current portfolio but also through an exciting new product launch pipeline across both the farm and companion animal sectors".

While at AgriLabs, Mr Schram built up the company's presence in the US market as a one-stop shop offering a range of services to the animal health industry. The firm gained specific expertise in the area of biologicals and adjuvants. AgriLabs was acquired by Huvepharma at the beginning of 2018.

Prior to AgriLabs, Mr Schram worked at Syntex Animal Health for 12 years. At Syntex, he progressed from sales representative to business unit manager. Syntex was acquired by Fort Dodge in 1995.

Mr Schram is also a committee member for the Kansas City Animal Health Corridor Board and Missouri-based animal health business incubator Innovation Stockyard.

Newry-headquartered Norbrook is building out its business on a global stage. The generics specialist said the introduction of three new products, particularly in the US, helped it to 14% sales growth in fiscal 2017. Last year, the company's North American sales went up by 17%.
